🍯 Luqaimat Recipe (Arabic Sweet Dumplings)
Ingredients
For the Luqaimat Dough:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for extra crispiness)

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)

1 tablespoon yogurt (optional, for softness)

1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional, for flavor)

Oil, for deep frying
For the Sugar Syrup (or use date syrup):

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup water
-
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon rose water or saffron strands (optional)

Step 1: Prepare the Sugar Syrup

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water.

Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat.

Add lemon juice and rose water (or saffron).

Let simmer until slightly thickened (about 8–10 minutes). Cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Luqaimat Batter

In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, yeast, sugar, salt, and cardamom.

Add warm water gradually and mix until smooth and thick like pancake batter.

Add yogurt and stir again.

Cover the bowl and let it rest for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
Step 3: Fry the Luqaimat

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.

Once hot, drop small spoonfuls of batter (or pipe it using your hand and cut with a spoon) into the oil.

Fry until golden brown, turning frequently for even color.

Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 4: Coat in Syrup

Immediately dip the hot luqaimat into the cool sugar syrup.

Toss well to coat evenly.
